On silence - canceled -

replaced by lecture Art and silence

Book presentation

Waerbeke cancels book presentation 'on silence' due to corona measures. Perhaps it will be postponed to a later date. As soon as it is known, you will find all the information on waerbeke.be.

ZINDERING already offers a worthy alternative programme to the book presentation: cultural journalist Virginie Platteau, in her lecture 'Art and silence', takes a closer look at the importance of silence in the arts. "An exploration on the edge of what cannot be spoken about, but cannot be kept silent either."
Read all the information here.

The public will be notified of the change in programme via email.

David Le Breton is not only a lecturer in anthropology and sociology at the University of Strasbourg. He is also a world authority on research into the motives for risk-taking behaviour, experiences of pain and the perception of silence. The latter is the theme of his latest book, Du silence, translated into Dutch by Joris Capenberghs. Waerbeke vzw is officially launching this translation in the context of Zindering during a conversation with VRT journalist Kristien Bonneure, Joris Capenberghs and Virginie Platteau.

Kristien Bonneure is a VRT journalist and a lover of silence.

'Suddenly there is the unique voice of David Le Breton. An anthropologist who speaks freely and frankly about silence. And is himself surprised to have described in so many words the fine fabric of silence.'
